Can Air Conditioning Spread Covid-19
According to the World Health Organization’s website: “According to current evidence, COVID-19 virus is primarily transmitted between people through respiratory droplets and contact routes. In an analysis of 75,465 COVID-19 cases in China, airborne transmission was not reported.” In close quarters, such as on a cruise ship, where the air is spread from cabin to cabin, you are running a much higher risk of airborne exposure to the virus. Research is still being conducted to understand the way this virus spreads and to help us fight the spread through education. For now, the best thing to do is wear a mask in public spaces and wash your hands as frequently as possible, while avoiding touching your face. The virus has been known to spread quicker in cool environments and live longer on surfaces in areas where there is a lack of heat and sun exposure. We are waiting for more answers from scientists to know if there are ways to help eliminate the virus through climate control inside. However, as of now there is no evidence to suggest that air conditioners spread Covid-19. In a subtropical climate, with high humidity and heat exposure, it is especially important to keep the temperature in your commercial or residential space controlled. Without air conditioning, the humidity will creep into your space, which can lead to a long list of problems including, warped wood, mold, mildew, moisture damage, and more. As more information is available, we will have a better understanding of the way the Covid-19 virus spreads and how to best eliminate it. For now, continue using your air conditioner the same way you always do. There has been no information released from the World Health Organization or our federal government to support the need for any action outside […]
